Haiti’s escalating gang violence has pushed the country to the brink of collapse, with armed groups controlling key neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince and carrying out mass atrocities. The 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) kicked off with a powerful vision: renewing and advancing the commitments to fully implement the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action as it marks its 30th anniversary. In dedicated forums and spaces organized by UN Women, including interactive dialogues, side events, and a half-day Youth Forum, young feminists, and girl leaders delivered a unifying message: meaningful and effective progress hinges on their immediate and substantive involvement in shaping the policies and actions today.

At a side event during the 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) on 13 March, titled “Reflections and Resolve: Civil Society Pathways to Push Forward for Gender Equality”, UN Women brought together youth leaders and regional civil society steering committee members to share reflections about civil society engagement in the Beijing+30 regional reviews. Panellists also provided recommendations for accelerating the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and for the CSW Revitalization process, which aims to strengthen the relevance, accountability and inclusivity of the Commission on the Status of Women.
